Living your Passion and making it pay..
Its hard some days to get out of bed, come on you know it is…
Especially if you’re not doing something you want to do. Those early morning commutes, working with people you really don’t like, doing uninspired work… Ok, I’ve made my point.
I’ve been fortunate in my life to have very rarely been employed. I have worked for myself most of my adult life. But that said, it doesn’t mean I haven’t done work I didn’t like.
In fact I think sometimes I was an incredibly slow learner!
Yet at the ripe old age of 53 I feel very blessed to have been on this journey because it has led me right here…exactly where I want to be and living my passion. I also feel fortunate to know what my passion is…
You may have read my story, where I talk about how my work is an expression of love…my love of health, animal welfare and environmental issues.
My health issues, led me on the most rewarding journey, which allowed me to open a highly successful cafe in our small town. We went on the most amazing ride working with incredible people.
But we were continually asked by customers if we could teach them how to make this style of food. So we started classes every Wednesday night and every Wednesday night they were booked out. Each week we would dis-assemble the cafe and create a class room.
As part of the series we offered a Raw Chocolate class. We were pretty blown away when we had 120 enrollments and had to move from the cafe to the local school hall to run that weeks class!
We had internationally recognized chefs visit and work with us.
We even hosted a private dinner for one of the industry Gurus, Gabriel Cousens (at his request).
We created a recipe book to help share the information with more people and had huge success with it…
But we were still asked consistently by customers and friends to train and educate them, so we took the big step, sold the cafe and launched the Raw Chef Professional Training course.
I remember thinking “this is it, I’m living my passion, I will do this forever” well that’s what I thought then…
We work with some of the best chefs out there. We work with one of the best nutritionists you will ever find. We have incredible students, who produce miracles as they study and grow as Raw Food Chefs.
But at the end of the day, the comment that keeps coming back from most folk I know in this industry is “ Now how do I make it pay?”
This question baffled me, this is an area I had never struggled with. The marketing of our cafe, classes and recipe book was so easy and second nature to me, it didn’t occur to me that it was a challenge for other people.
Then I realized our mission was bigger than just teaching people how to be great Raw and Vegan Chefs. It is to help train and support incredibly Successful Raw and Vegan Chefs. We want people to be able to make a great living out of doing what they love…
The more successful Raw and Vegan Chefs and educators we have out there, the faster we can make an impact on peoples lives, animal welfare and the health of the planet…
So its time to share, not only the trade secrets that made our cafe, classes and other ventures successful with the great food, but also the marketing and other elements that create a very successful business.
We have added a whole section to our chefs course teaching in detail, strategies, both on-line and off-line that made our business so successful. (we are also soon to be offering it as a stand alone course for those of our friends who are already in the industry and want to be more successful)
We want our students, friends and customers to succeed when they venture in the world of Raw and Vegan Food.
I love reflecting on the journey and how I got here.. do you ever do that?
Now this is living my passion…
To get out of bed each day knowing I am helping people not only find their passion, but realize success with that passion… To support people so that they can quit doing work they hate, and start doing work they love..
Here’s to a healthy and happy future for all of us…
