“Hot Chocolate, aren’t I meant to be on a Raw Food Diet”
Winter is the time most people struggle with their Raw Food Diet.
Don’t be too hard on yourself if you find your commitment is dropping along with the temperature. Those warm comforting soups are so tempting and lets face it, who can pass up a yummy hot chocolate on a cold winters afternoon.
We get so many emails this time of year from wonderful folk that are giving themselves such a hard time because they feel like they’ve fallen off the raw wagon.
My response…“just be kind to yourself”.
It’s food, not an atom bomb, and it’s not worth beating yourself up over. Isn’t it interesting, particularly as women, how quickly we berate ourselves when we feel we have failed.
What is failing when it comes to food?
- Are you still adding as much whole food to your diet as you can?
- Are you avoiding processed sugars and carbs.
- Are you making that cooked soup with love and enthusiasm?
If you answered yes to any of the above, give yourself a pat on the back!
In my journey back to health I learnt so much about the power of the mind and emotions when it comes to healing. I realised if I judged myself and criticized myself, the chemical reaction in my body from those emotions were just as harmful as bad food! This is interesting to research if you have the time. There is actually evidence now that proves this is not just a hippy theory!
So whether you think this is a flaky approach or believe in the science, please use it as an excuse to nurture yourself in these still quiet months of winter. I just love slowing down and embracing the season for what it is. We can learn from nature and treat our bodies accordingly.
Enjoy your food, nourish your heart with kind positive thoughts and feelings and celebrate life each day you have it..
