Using Raw Food Recipes could be the key to living a long healthy life. Recipes that have ingredients, such as raw fruits, vegetables, legumes, and whole grains, are the ones you should be preparing. Food in its raw form will provide the proper nutrients to keep you as healthy has you can be.

Additionally, vegetarian diets have significantly lower amounts of saturated fats, cholesterol, and calories. Sounds like we are off to a good start so far.

Will Raw Food Recipes Really Keep You Alive Longer?

To answer that question, let’s take a quick look at raw vs cooked food. In its raw state, food will provide more nutrients and other life sustaining elements as compared to cooked food. Cooking takes away important vitamins, minerals, and nutrients from your food.

Read more about a loss of nutrients in this study of the mortality rate of people who consumed raw vs cooked food. Furthermore, cooked food is not as easily digested as raw food. As a result, the body will have to work harder to process cooked food.

These were just a few tidbits on how eating cooked food is not only harder on your body, but can offer fewer nutrients. It’s always best to eat your food in its most natural form.

What Are a Few Examples of Raw Foods that Aid in Longevity?

Almost all raw foods contain nutrients that will help keep you around longer. This is why it is extremely important not to lose a single nutrient through the cooking process. Here are a few life preserving ingredients you can add to your raw food recipes.

Raw Food Recipes - CranberriesCranberries

A study was done where cranberry extract was given to fruit flies, and they lived 25 percent longer than the fruit flies that were given none. This isn’t your typical study, but it seems to get a point across.

Cranberries have been said to reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease and certain cancers. In addition, they are filled with powerful phytochemicals that help aid in the prevention of illness. Cranberries are a bit tart when they are raw, but you can pair them with something sweet for a great contrast.

Onions

All onions contain phytochemicals that will strengthen your immune system, and help keep you healthy into your golden years. Onions also fight inflammation and infections, and aid in regulating blood sugar. Onions are a great addition to raw food recipes, since their flavors can range from sweet to spicy. They work especially well in salads.
