Being on a raw food diet plan is one of the best things you can do for your health. But in some situations, like dining out, it may not be the easiest unless you are prepared. Don’t let that stop you, there are ways to adjust and feel comfortable. Additionally, you will be surprised at the number of restaurants that are accommodating special raw diet requests these days. For the restaurants that are not so easy to work with, there are creative ways to deal with them.
A big part of dining out is the social aspect. We all want to fit in with our coworkers and friends. You can’t avoid going out to eat with them, so finding great ways to deal with your raw food diet plan is well worth the time. Furthermore, while you might be expecting some judgment, a good number of your friends might actually admire you for being healthy and taking care of yourself, as well as sticking to it!
What if People Think Only Eating Raw Food is Ridiculous?
If you focus on what others might think, it could keep you from dining out. You know your raw food diet plan is not ridiculous. In fact, you know your plan is going to keep you healthy, energetic, help you lower your risk of disease, and so on. Even so, preparing yourself for unfavorable comments is never a bad idea. It can help you feel more comfortable and confident. If you expect that it might happen, you won’t be thrown off guard when it does.
I Might Feel Under Pressure When it’s My Time to Order
That’s a very good point. Imagine dining out with all your coworkers and you can’t give the waiter an answer when it is your time to order. Don’t worry, there are some things you can do to make sure this never happens. Depending on how much time you have, you can review the menu ahead of time. This can be done either online or at the restaurant before your party arrives. If dining out was a last minute decision, you can slip away and quickly call the restaurant to ask them a few questions. All these options will help avoid “on the spot” ordering.
What if I Don’t Have Time to View the Menu Beforehand
There are actually a few things you can do that will help you out in a situation like this. Quickly scan the menu for codes or symbols that represent vegetarian meals. This is becoming more common these days. Once you have located them, determine if they are cooked or raw meals. If the restaurant you are dining at does not provide specific codes like this, you have a few other options.
You can simply turn to the salad page, and see what looks good there. Make sure to be on the lookout for salads that contain meat or eggs, and the such. If you are rushing, it could be easy to order the Cobb salad not realizing it has hard boiled eggs in it. If nothing on the salad page looks appetizing, you can most likely order something that is not a specified dish on the menu. 9 times out of 10, a waiter will be willing to work with you. So if you noticed items on the menu that look great, but were not all listed in one dish, you could ask for them separately.
As you can see, there are techniques that will make dining out on a raw food diet plan easy. Taking the time to use these techniques will be well worth it. It will enable you to walk away from the restaurant feeling good about yourself.
