A Raw Food Diet – Make Sure Not To Forget About The Fruit

A balanced and well-rounded raw food diet is important in maintaining a healthy nutrient intake. It’s easy to focus on what seems to be the main part of a raw food diet, which would be the vegetables. As a result, fruit can end up playing a smaller role, but in reality, it’s just as important.

Eating more fruit will naturally add more vitamins, minerals, and other essential nutrients to your raw food diet. We all know this is important to allow our bodies to operate efficiently, fight off disease, as well as feel our best. In addition to this, fresh raw fruit has a high water content and therefore a low-calorie count. As a result, you will feel full with fewer calories when adding fruit to your raw food diet. If you are trying to lose weight, eating this type of food will greatly increase your chances of trimming down to a healthy weight.

Ditch the Chocolate Lava Cake for a Sweet Mango

Most fruit is naturally sweet and can be a great alternative to the “other” sweets you may crave. Having a mango in place of chocolate cake will give you the extra nutrients you need, and will also keep the refined sugars out of your body. It can be difficult at first to resist your cravings, but over time your body will adjust and raw fruit will satisfy this craving, so don’t give up! At some point, refined and processed desserts won’t look appetizing to you anymore.

More Fruit in Your Raw Food Diet  – Additional Advantages

Contains Dietary Fiber

We all need dietary fiber, and fruit as a lot of it, specifically soluble fiber. Fiber lowers the risk of cancers, aids in digestive health, helps you lose weight, and promotes healthy skin. Fruits high in fiber include apples, figs, blackberries, pears, aRaw Food Diet - Pearsnd raspberries, to name a few. Additionally, adding a variety of fruits will give you a wider array of nutritional value. A study that touches on this subject was conducted on botanical diversity and its effects on the body.

Rich in Vitamin C

Another benefit of adding fruit to a raw food diet is the fact that you will be taking in more Vitamin C. This antioxidant is very important in maintaining a healthy immune system, as well as keeping our cells healthy. It also aids in the healing process of wounds, keeps our gums healthy, and is said to fight against free radicals. Unfortunately, free radicals damage our cells and can speed up our aging process. This alone should have you running to the store to buy more fruit to add to your raw food diet. Some fruits high in Vitamin C are oranges, strawberries, pineapple, blueberries, mango, and kiwi.

Potassium

Raw Food Diet - ApricotsPotassium plays an important role in maintaining our organs, tissues, and cells. It also regulates fluid and keeps electrolyte activity in check. As a result, if potassium levels are too high or low, it can affect the heart in a negative way.  You can add more potassium to your raw food diet by eating bananas, passion fruit, kiwi, apricots, and persimmons.
