Could You Make It a Priority?
Why Cruelty free? No matter who you are or where you live, one thing I truly believe: we were all put here to make the world a better place. And the last time I Googled the word “all” or looked it up in the dictionary, it’s still one of the few words that’s self-defining. All means, all, which includes animals.
So how can we all make this world a better place for both humans and animals?
We can start with the makeup that we use. We love our makeup. Makeup (supposedly) enhances our natural beauty, and often it makes us feel better when we see our reflection in the mirror. However, it’s sad to say that, often times this comes at a cost. A cost that many may not be totally aware of, or at least how cruel it really is to animals.
The great news is that there is something we all can do about it, and it’s very simple: make cruelty free makeup a priority in our lives. Just to be clear, cruelty free means that there’s no animal testing, and vegan means that there are no animal ingredients used in the makeup you’re using. So, when we put cruelty free and vegan together, it means that the product wasn’t tested on animals and that the product doesn’t have any animal ingredients and by-products in it.
Big Reason #1: You’re Able to Take a Stance against Animal Cruelty:
Animals, just like humans, have a right to enjoy the life that has been given to them. Yet, many animals are not able to enjoy their lives and are instead kept in captivity. These animals, such as mice, rabbits, hamsters, and even dogs, are subjected to harsh treatment and conditions that are outside of their normal habitat.
The skin of these animals is usually shaved, and then chemicals are sometimes forcefully rubbed onto their skin in order to test the reactions their skin produce against these chemicals which are intended to be used in the makeup that we wear. But not only that, it’s not uncommon for these animals to suffer broken bones as a result of being forced to inhale poisonous chemicals and fumes. None of this is truly necessary. The makeup that we love can be made without subjecting animals to this level of cruelty.
Big Reason #2: It’s Better for Your Skin:
When you use vegan makeup, that means it’s free of any animal ingredients. This allows you to utilize makeup that works in perfect harmony with your skin and enhance your natural beauty the way nature intended. In addition, using cruelty free makeup is flat out better for your skin, which so happens to be the largest organ on the human body. Using vegan and animal free makeup empowers you with the ability to take back control of your body by pampering your skin with the very best type of makeup/natural beauty enhancer available.
In fact, did you know that the average woman puts more than 500 chemicals on her body every single day? Yes, over 500 chemicals. Now, just think about how much damage putting more than 500 chemicals on your body every day can do. You don’t have to be a mad scientist to know that’s not good for your body and for your long-term health. Just to give you an idea of how bad this is for you, placing more than 500 chemicals on your body utilizing makeup that’s NOT animal cruelty free and vegan, can cause serious health problems, such as:
- Cancer
- Birth defects
- Brain damage
- Cell damage
- Even contribute to obesity
Ok, now we know that at this point you may be asking yourself if there is anything else you can do to help make cruelty free makeup a priority. Well, the next time you’re out and about shopping for makeup, take a good look at the label on the back, to see what kind of ingredients were used to create the product.
In case you come across an ingredient that you have absolutely no idea what it is, the great thing about it is that in this day and time, there are many animal rights and protection organizations who have developed a list of companies who use cruelty free and vegan ingredients for their products. In addition, there are brands who have been approved and certified as animal cruelty free companies. Just a few of those companies include:
- Lush
- Eco Tan
- Adorn Cosmetics
- Lust Mineral Cosmetics
- Hard Candy
The bottom line is that when you make the decision to make cruelty free and vegan makeup a priority in your life, you’ll not only enhance the life of your own, but you’ll enhance the lives of all the special animals around the world.
