Bliss Organic Cafe: A Piece of Heaven in Adelaide

You know you’ve landed in paradise when you walk up to the counter and the whole cake cabinet is full of RAW cakes!

I was in Adelaide this weekend, my home town, to spend time with my Mum and so being a good little foodie I sent out the call on facebook….where can I eat?? Whilst the options were thin to say the least, the one place that was mentioned was Bliss Organic Cafe. So a short run into Adelaide city, in a extremely cute little side street opposite the growers markets, was a very funky, eclectic looking café.

I was greeted at the counter by a delightful woman named Pip. Hell bent on making me feel welcome even before she knew I was an obsessive raw foodie..

The place was quiet when I arrived at 11.30 (well I hadn’t had breakfast). But by the time my food arrived, the place was jam packed with Friday lunch trade. If you are a selective eater, you will understand my sheer delight at having a whole menu to choose from.

Now I have to confess living on the sunshine coast in Queensland means I am definitely not deprived with 3 amazing raw food cafes to choose from and several raw friendly options as well. But when I travel I am very used to making do when I eat out…so this was a definite bonus!

I ordered their raw salad as my main and citrus slice for dessert. The food was so beautifully fresh and all organic. It was served in such a delightful way, with this as the description:
“Fresh green organic salad mix, fresh seasonal organic fruit, selected organic dried nuts and seeds, organic buckwheat, organic coconut oil, organic freshly house-made nut cream/s, organic grated carrots and/or beetroot, organic alfalfa sprouts, dehydrated buckwheat and beetroot cracker, organic olive oil from Tony Scarfo’s farm.” I don’t know who Tony Scarfo is, but the salad was amazing.

How could you resist that for lunch, honestly!!

They have a little shop attached to the café with some really interesting products, all vegan and very inviting… They also had a great range of videos and books, some of which I have been looking for. I also bought 6 slices of raw cake to take home for morning tea with my Mum and sisters the next day…YUM! Yep my card took a beating, but what can I say. Rather spend on that than go dress shopping any day.

If you are in Adelaide city and want a great lunch, check these guys out. You will be glad you did…
